Pittsburgh's Going to the Superbowl, Applique Examples

So Close...

Well, No all PA superbowl. DH is so bummed that the Eagles did not make it to the superbowl. My Pittsburgh Steelers did! All I can say is that they were good games and I can't help but think of the Baltimore Raven's player Willis McGahee that was hurt in the last 3 minutes of the Steelers game. It was one of the hardest hits I think I have seen in a football game. Thankfully, he was moving before they took him off the field and early reports say he is going to be ok. Thank goodness!

Applique blocks

Here are the applique blocks I was referencing yesterday when I was talking about gluing the paper pattern to the fusible web. These were completed on my regular sewing machine. I finished one set of bone and paws so far. Now today, I need to work on more of my angels!

Learning embroidery machine appliqueing

It's very interesting how an embroidery machine does applique. It sews a quick outline layer, then you place your fabric over that. Then it tacks down the fabric in the same outline. You trim close to the edge which for me was a hard thing to do, I need a better pair of scissors. Last round then completes the satin stitch to applique down the fabric. Here's my first try at an embroidery machine applique test. Notice how small the photo is so you can't see how bad I was at trimming! In due time, I'll get the hang of it.
