These rolls of fabric (which I'm assuming is some type of binding fabric rolls) were found in a thrift shop for pennies. I thought there has to be some use for them in quilt. For the life of me, I can't figure out. I'm assuming they are some type of binding. However, the left most one has a pink edging on it that would be folded under if used on binding. They are more of a satin feel. The are also 4" and 6" wide so bigger than the standard 2.5" binding. I just thought someone out there would know what their original use were for.
Thanks for stopping by!

These might have been used as a border on cafe curtains. That is what they look like to me. I sold fabric for over 18 years and at times some percales were sold with pre prepared borders in the fabric stores in the 50-60's. They were designed for kitchen bathrooms and bedroom cafe curtains. Chris
ReplyDeleteLooks like edging for curtains. The kind you made ruffles edges on cafe curtains with.

I was thinking for ruffles, so I guess I wasn't too far off. :-)) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks all, I learned something new today which always makes me happy. But this might mean that I need to learn how to make curtains :-)
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, they are a fabulous find, and you will one day see just the perfect use for them!!
ReplyDeleteI have some rolls like these. Here in Australia, they were used back in the 80s and 90s for ruffles around pillowcases and doona/duvet covers. Mine were leftovers form the manufacturers
ReplyDeleteThanks Dorothy B, that's a great idea too. Maybe I can use them somehow in my Pillowcase challenge pillowcases!
