Misplaced Fusible - I Give Up

Don't you just hate when you misplace something?  I have searched and searched and searched for the Misty Fuse fusible web that I used on my mock denim cathedral window quilt.  I have been wanting to work on it more but I have not been able to locate what I did with the Misty Fuse.  Believe me I have been looking for a couple months and all the time refusing to purchase more.

I finally gave up and purchased some more today.  I am looking forward to making some more progress on the quilt.  Here's a reminder of where I stopped.  Now all I have to do is wait for the delivery!

Surprise Fabric Find

I was out doing a little window shopping today and had a chance to visit one of my favorite shops.  It's called Tuesday Mornings.  It's an eclectic shop of home items and my store recently added a little crafting section in one of the rows.  I usually spend most of my visit in this area.

On this occasion, I was surprised to actually find some fat quarter packs.  The price was incredible.  It was 12 fat quarters for either 6.99 or 7.99.  There were about 7 packs left of assorted fabric packs.  I carefully reviewed them all and decided I needed to buy 1 pack.  (I wanted to buy them all because of the price, but thankfully did not).  There is only one pack in the photo to the right.  It is just in different stages of photos.

The one I picked had the cutest black fabric with thread spools on it.  What's also nice is there were two of each fabric in the pack.  So essentially, there were half yards of 6 types.  I want to make an accessory hanger for around my sewing machine.  Also in the pack I chose there were two different types of sparkly fabric.  They are really cute.  Time to scour the net for some fat quarter craft ideas or come up with some on my own!

Combining Crafts for Valentines Day Card - Part II

My original plan was to make this year's valentines day card from scratch.  Why not, I have enough supplies to probably make endless amount of cards.  But, I also remembered I had some pre-purchased blank cards from a box kit.  I looked through them and found a beautiful heart themed card.  I added the Happy Valentines Day sentiment to the front of the card and I was on my way.
The inside was totally blank.  Then, the inside sentiment came to me. So, the inside became:  "As always, you make my {insert embroidered, appliqued, rhinestone'd heart here} sparkle.  Happy Valentines Day!  I ran the embroidered applique heart through the Xyron machine to add permanent adhesive to the back of it.

I also created a print out of the saying I selected and cut it out to match the card size.  I added a few glue dots on the corner and applied it to the inside card.  Here's the end result for the inside of the card.  Of course, my photography skills are not the best and you can't see the rhinestone sparkles.  But, they really shine!  Now, just add a hand written sentiment and I am completed.

Combining Crafts for my Valentine Day Card

I am working on my Valentines Day card for this year.  It takes me a couple days to decided what I want to do each year.  This year, I was wanted to use my AccuQuilt Heart Die but step it up even more.  I thought I would applique it to a background fabric first and then add a embroidered design on top of it.  It took me a couple tries to get the embroidery just right around the heart.  Then, of course, I needed to figure out how to put some bling on it.  I thought I would add a sparkle in the center of each flower embroidered with heat set rhinestones.  I just can't get a great photo of it but I'm really pleased with the outcome.

Next steps are to send this cut out heart through the Xyron to add a permanent adhesive to the back and then I'll try and incorporate it into this years card.  More to come when the card takes more shape.  Hope you are having a great weekend!

Great News Received

Things have been slow on my blog for about the last couple weeks as we went through some issues related to my DH health.  After being advised that his last scan showed multiple areas of uptake, we were prepared by the doctors for the worst.  All signs were pointing to a return of the cancer and that it had probably spread. We are both usually pretty optimistic about things.  However,we both spent that first week in a low place but kept working to keep the faith.

After the first week, we return to ourselves and thought we'll deal with anything that comes our way.  Heck, we've already been through a late stage fight and came out winners, we can do it again.  Cut to many weeks later and after several meetings and a surgical procedure.  We finally have the results.  The initial thoughts and scan results were wrong!!  It was not a new area of cancer.  It must have been some type of infection from a cold that caused the uptake areas.   Amen and Thank You God! So, my lesson to learn is to have more faith.  Thank you all for the great notes and emails I received.
