After being away for 8 weeks, it's nice to be home with our old norm. Right before we came home, I ordered some layer cakes to be waiting. It was perfect timing because on the doorstep was the package from the fatquartershop with the Moda Blush and Gobble Gobble layer cakes in it. Yummy, but definitely not something that look well together! I really loved the fall colors of the Gobble Gobble so I gobbled them up on sale!!
I'm hoping I just might get a chance to be crafty again and sew something this weekend since I'm back with the sewing machine!! But, keeping the patient well after treatment is still my first priority. DH did well with the treatment and now we just sit back and wait a couple of months for the results. Luckily, I'll have some sewing to keep my mind busy. With that, here's a snapshot of the fabrics in the package I received. Glad I got them when I did, I can't find them on the site anymore.

Crochet Wrist Purse
Ok, I'm just trying anything now with crochet. I thought that I'd like a little purse for my camera and/or phone. So, I did several rows of half double crochets. Then I folded up two thirds and secured the sides to make the bag part. Turned it inside out to place the seam inside the bag.
I then Added a double crochet loop to the bottom center. I also added a double crochet tongue on the flap. Then I tied that in a knot that would slip in the loop on the front of the bag. For the wrist strap, I croched a quilt strap of double crochet and then attached that in an arch on the back of the bag. Here's my free form electronics bag. To make it match my scarf and hat, I added a row of shell stitches on the edge of the flap.
It won't be long until I'm back to my quilting. We'll be home in about two weeks. It will give my cramping hands a rest from crocheting. Shortly, I'll show you the progress on my first crochet afghan.

Crochet Hat Overload
Being a person that is just starting crocheting under the circumstances, I'm having fun trying new things,. I'm still working on my afghan, but, it's a work in process. I had to wait until the yearn was delivered to continue. So, I decided to teach myself how to make a hat. I'm sorry, but I can not follow crochet patterns. I get lost in all the initials. So, I decided to wing it. There were a couple of false starts but here's what I ended up with. I may have to start wearing hats.
The top one i just kept trying different stitches and increasing and reducing number of stitches. The white one on the right is not completed. The one on the bottom is made out of cotton yarn and I think it's going to stretch out and stay that way... that was a good lesson, use stretchy yarn. Only 3-4 more weeks to go for being away from home so I'm curious to see if I continue crocheting at home.

Happy New Year!
During my free time back at the apt, I've been crocheting my first afghan. I am doing my own pattern which seems to be taking a lot of time and a lot of yarn. I think I brought maybe 12 rolls with me and now I'm out of a specific color and need to wait for the delivery man to deliver some more. Hubby is halfway completed with treatment so I don't think I'll finish it before we leave.
I'm using Lily Sugan n Cream yarn which comes on smaller spools. It's a nice cotton thread and seems to be making a durable afghan. I'm just using single, double, and triple crochet stitches. Here's what I have so far. It' about the length of the twin bed. That's my target size, finish for a twin bed. It's mostly white (which is what I ran out of) and subtle pastes and ecru. The photo doesn't capture it well.
While I'm waiting on the white yarn to be delivered, I'll try something else with the extra colors I brought.
