Olympic Pillowcase Progress

I've started sewing my pillowcases that were pinned before. I call them my Olympic Pillowcases in honor of their colors that match the Olympics. There are 8 cases on the 3 color variances. They sew together so fast using the hot dog method posted previously. Here's 3 to start.
I love the colors in the pillowcases. Makes me think of the ocean as well and WARM weather!! I also love using the french seam. It is sooo clean. I don't think I'll ever do a pillowcase without it. That or the hot dog method of attaching the top band and accent.

I also picked out a new purse to work on. I went simple to continue my progress. It will be a cell phone bag. I have a pattern from Quiltsmart that I'll try out. I'll keep you posted.

Finished Blush Lap Quilt Top

I added the solid white inner border to the Blush Lap Quilt that uses the "In A Jiffy" pattern.  Previously, I was not sure I liked all the colors mixed together.  Now, I like it a lot more!  The difference in the pattern,  I added a 2" (1.5 with seams) white inner border to match the white fabric on some of the blocks.  Here's the completed quilt top just in time for Valentines Day.  Happy Valentines Day to all my blogging friends out there:

Combining Crafts - Fabric Die Cuts and Cardmaking

I was curious the other day whether my Slice die cutting machine would cut fabric or not.  I wanted some simple hearts to place on DH's Valentine's day card.  I added the glue to the Slice glass pad, added my fabric, selected my design and press cut.  I was OK with taking the chance to see if it would work.  The fabric did stick too good to the glass pad.  In the end, I ended up with two cute applique hearts ready for use.  I also die cut a pop up for the inside and reused the cut out letters for the front.  Add some ribbons and here's the results.

Pillowcase Pairs

While I set aside the decision on the which solid border to select for the blush lap quilt, I decided to work on some pillowcases.  I wanted to practice and make a few for my house and then get cranking out some pillowcases for charity.  This will be a great stash buster.  However, I plan to make the pillowcases in pairs.   Here's my first pair.  I cut the dark green trim a little small but I'm ok with it for the home.

Border Experiment on Blush Lap Quilt

I finished sewing the center blocks together on the blush lap quilt.  It definitely is growing on me.  I haven't place the border on just yet.  I was thinking, maybe I need a solid inner border first.  I added some to my original photo using photoshop and picked colors from the quilt.  I'm leaning more towards either the cranberry or white.  White is a front runner so far.  So, I'll look through the stash and see what I come up with.

Blush Lap Quilt..... Just not my cup of tea yet

I was able to finish piecing the squares and border for the blush lap quilt.  I arranged it all out on the floor and stepped back to take a look.  I thought, It's just not my cup of tea yet.  Maybe it will grow on me.  I don't know why I don't like it right away.  I love the blush fabric colors and I love the In a Jiffy pattern but when the two came together, just not the "aha" moment I was looking for.

I still have to sew the quilt blocks together and then add the border.  Maybe after the pressing it, I'll like it more.  What do you think, I can take it.  Hubby said, very unconvincingly.... "It's cute, it will grow on you".

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry in the snow.  We had 24" today.  It was just beautiful today since we didn't have to be anywhere.  My favorite photo was our bluebird box which had about a 10" pile on it.  The snow is about halfway up the pole.

Blush Lap Quilt in a Jiffy and a Thank You card

My first sewing project since I am back home is going to be the Moda Lap Quilt In a Jiffy!  I already have the light / dark blocks sewn together.  I'm hoping to be completed with the top by the end of the weekend.  Here's the work in progress so far.  The colors will make a great Valentines quilt to stay warm with.

I've also been working on Thank you cards to send to various people that have helped out over the last couple of weeks.  I look forward to being creative and having the supplies close by!!  Here's my first one that I cut out using my Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter.
